About the GSPH
Why SDSU?
There are many schools of public health in the United States, with several in California. So why select the GSPH at SDSU? What are the advantages of living in San Diego and studying public health at SDSU?
- The GSPH is one of four nationally accredited Schools of Public Health in California. At least for California residents, students at the GSPH receive a high quality education while paying the lowest fees of any accredited school of public health in the United States.
- San Diego is a culturally diverse community, providing a rich lifestyle as well as opportunities not available elsewhere to gain firsthand knowledge and study health issues that may apply to particular ethnic groups.
- The GSPH is actively involved in the local community, offering opportunities for both research and practice-based experience working with the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency and a large number of nonprofit community-based health organizations.
- San Diego has a large concentration of health-related businesses and organizations, including biotechnology companies, managed care organizations and large health care providers. This provides fertile ground for learning about current public health issues.
- Although most students enroll in a full course load, the School facilitates part-time study by students whose schedules will not permit a greater time commitment.
- While the sun does not [quite] shine 365 days per year, the generally beautiful weather does permit students to study outside and engage in recreational and other outdoor activities almost year-round.
