Admission Requirements and Application

Impacted Program and Standards for Admission

The health science major with an emphasis in Public Health is an impacted program. To be admitted to the emphasis in Public Health, students much meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed all lower division public health courses required for the major (Public Health 101, 290, and 294). These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC);

  • Receive a grade of B or higher in Public Health 101 and 290;

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher;

  • Submit a written statement outlining career goals and personal motivation for entering the public health field.

Acceptance to the health science major with an emphasis in Public Health occurs only in January and May of each year.

To complete the major, students must fulfill the degree requirements for the major described in the catalog in effect at the time they are accepted into the premajor at SDSU (assuming continuous enrollment).
