Biography:

Dr. Ann de Peyster is Professor of Toxicology and Director of the Toxicology program in the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health. Her Ph.D. is from the U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health, where she developed her main research interests in reproductive and endocrine toxicology, and in the use of mechanistic toxicology data to support human health risk assessments. Since coming to SDSU, initially with a joint appointment in the Department of Biology, she has also collaborated with aquatic biologists and ecologists to expand her laboratory- and field-based studies of chemicals on reproductive processes to encompass other non-mammalian models. In addition to research and teaching at SDSU, she served as Interim Director of the GSPH from 2004-2007. An active participant in several toxicology professional societies, she is a recipient of the Society of Toxicology's Public Communications Award, serves on the editorial board of Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology, and is an editor of the latest edition of the 4-volume Encyclopedia of Toxicology.
