Travel/Study Abroad Program Details

Program:Volunteers in Asia (VIA) Scholarship Fund
Sponsor:VIA, an international non-profit organization founded in 1963.
Length:6-8 weeks, or 1-2 years
Location:
Description:Short-term (6-8 weeks) summer programs for continuing college undergraduates to teach English or participate in in-service learning program.

Long-term (1-2 years) programs are open to college graduates of all ages.

Long-term participanats may teach English literature, Business English, and film. May also work in rural development, environmental protection, organic farming, marine conservation, and public health.

VIA provides two mandatory training sessions to volunteers prior to departure. Volunteers learn international job skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and customs of their host country.

Timeline:
Requirements:Participants (18 to 80 years old) must either be enrolled or already have a B.A. or B.S. degree. Participants pay a fee to VIA to participate in their volunteer programs.

VIA is looking for native English speakers with a genuine interest in cross-cultural exchange who are dedicated to furthering communication and understanding between the peoples of the United States and Asia
