Responsibilities: SDSU MOVE/Me Muevo (Obesity Prevention & Control in Community Recreation Centers) is a 5-year study funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to evaluate the effectiveness of a multi-level intervention to prevent the onset of overweight and obesity in 7-9 year old children.
Under supervision of the Measurement Director, the Data Manager will accomplish the following: (a) build, manage & maintain project databases in SPSS (b) develop data entry screens, range specifications (c) establish & maintain data tracking systems,
(d) ensure proper & consistent use of data tracking system by staff (e) establish & maintain project data files (f) train data collection & entry staff on SPSS data & data handling procedures (g) maintain & ensure quality of Microsoft Access participant tracking database (h) perform data quality control checks (i) run basic SPSS statistical analyses & reports as requested (j) perform data entry (k) address data management system problems as they arise. Duties may also include: performing other administrative functions related to data collection & data entry, routine communication of data management and entry issues to Measurement Director, attend measurement trainings as required, limited participation in data collection if necessary.

| Requirements: | Minimum Qualifications: Completion of sufficient coursework to successfully perform required duties of position, or equivalent of 2 years fulltime progressively responsible related experience. Familiar with data management systems used for physical activity and youth assessment and evaluation analysis. Strong working knowledge of SPSS including database set up and basic analysis. Comfortable using computers, familiar with Microsoft Office programs, especially Access and Excel, e-mail, and internet. Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to: work well with a variety of people; complete detailed work accurately and efficiently; quickly learn & follow specific data management procedures; multi-task, managing multiple and competing priorities; flexible in dealing with changing priorities; work effectively as part of a team; take initiative; provide effective direction to individuals and small groups when necessary; work flexible hours. Most work will take place during daytime hours (approx. 8:30 am-5 pm), but opportunity to work nights and weekends. The ability to report to work on time; follow directions from a supervisor; interact effectively with co-workers; understand and follow posted work rules and procedures; accept constructive criticism; and for managers and supervisory personnel to lead and manage others. |
