| Description: | Serve as a Case Manager/Health Educator for overweight postpartum women enrolled in a weight loss intervention designed specifically for new mothers. Conduct recruitment activities with potential participants. Provide education and resources to participants on how to develop and maintain effective behavioral strategies to lose weight and improve and maintain their physical activity and nutrition behaviors by following established protocols and procedures. Provide appropriate feedback (through telephone, e-mail and in-person communications) on targeted physical activity and nutrition behaviors to assigned participants. Create and sustain a supportive client-focused rapport and environment for changing targeted behaviors. Gather and maintain detailed and accurate information on communications with assigned participants according to study protocols and procedures for protecting human participants. Monitor quality assurance for all intervention data collection. Incumbent must demonstrate ability to work accurately, efficiently, and pay attention to detail. Must understand the personal responsibility involved with providing individual counseling contacts with participants, and establish a learning and supportive environment. Develop health education/promotion materials as they relate to physical activity and nutrition. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be available to work variable hours Monday thru Friday including some evenings and occasional weekends to meet the needs of study participants. Some hours may be worked from home. |
| Requirements: |
- Demonstrated educational and professional work experience in health, physical activity, nutrition, psychology, or other behavioral health field. Masters degree or above education preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in a clinical or research setting.
- Ability to understand and implement behavioral research methods, procedures, and protocols. Demonstrated experience recruiting participants and knowledge of human subject guidelines. Demonstrated experience identifying with the needs of postpartum women. Applicant with life experience similar to our subject population, of new mothers, is required.
- Demonstrated experience developing patient educational materials and resources.
- Computer literacy and word processing skills with experience using database management software. Must be proficient in MS Word, email, Internet use. Proficient in filing and documentation skills with ability to maintain thorough, current, and confidential records of client progress.
