he purpose of the Health Educator position is to assess population needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate member health education programs, activities, resources, systems, and services. The Health Educator also provides monitoring and oversight of contracted health education functions, and provides technical assistance, training and resources to internal and external clients in the areas of health education and health promotion.

Requirements:EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Required:
Masters in Public Health or closely related field.

Preferred:
MPH with emphasis in Health Education, Community Health Education, Behavioral Health & Education.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:
CA Drivers License and sufficient auto insurance coverage.

Preferred:
CHES Certification (Certified Health Education Specialist)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years experience in a health education position;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external customers to achieve objectives;
  • Ability to take initiative and produce timely and quality work, with little supervision;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills (documented with writing samples); experience with audits, developing surveys, and compiling & analyzing data.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with health education program planning, implementation, and evaluation within African American population in Los Angeles County.
  • Experience in resources development and program implementation for Medi-Cal and Medi-Care populations within managed care.
