Biography
Paula J. Murray, MPH has more than 30 years of experience in Public Health and health-related research, with extensive emergency preparedness and response experience over the past 15 years. She received her Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts. She is retired from Public Health Services (PHS), County of San Diego. During her tenure with PHS she worked in a number of core programs including the Epidemiology Branch, Tuberculosis Control, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. In the 6 years prior to retirement, she served in the PHS Administration section coordinating a variety of agency-wide cross-cutting initiatives including serving as Operational Area Mass Care and Shelter Coordinator and Coordinator of the PHS Continuity of Operations Plan. In 2018 she returned to working with the Public Health Preparedness and Response branch of PHS on a part-time basis to take on special projects related to hospital disaster preparedness and response. Since 2008 Ms. Murray has served as a part-time lecturer for the School of Public Health, San Diego State University. She teaches Graduate level Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response during the Fall semester and in the Spring semester, she offers a similar course for Public Health undergraduate students.
