History of SPH and DrPH degree

Background

The DrPH program is offered through the SDSU School of Public Health (SPH), which is within the College of Health and Human Services. The SPH was established in 1981 and is one of the first schools of public health in the State of California. The DrPH was authorized by the State of California legislature in 2022 as a new degree program to be offered by California State University member universities. The parameters of the degree are articulated in Title V of the State of California Education Act. The SPH is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
