Alumni, do you remember how it felt to be a new graduate pursuing a professional public health career? Think back to the triumphs and challenges you experienced and how far you’ve come.
We encourage you to share your experiences with our current SPH students through the SDSU Aztec Mentoring Program (AMP), which is now hosted on the SDSU Aztec Network platform (learn more about this here). This program connects current students with Alumni and professionals so that they have someone to go to with their questions and concerns about college and life after graduation. The process can be as rewarding for you as it is for the student!
Sign up through the online portal and indicate how many students you’d like to be matched with each semester. During the semester, you may be contacted by one or more students who selected you to be their mentor or who you were matched with, and you’ll meet with them as many times as you want over the next few weeks or months (most mentors meet with their mentees once every 2-4 weeks). This is a great way to give back to the SPH and strengthen our local public health community!
Students, could you use some support from someone with public health experience? Consider joining AMP! Though AMP, you can select a mentor who you would like to connect with. You will work with them to meet your goals, whether that is building stronger study skills or applying for jobs post-graduation. This is a great way to learn more about how to succeed in your career and build your professional network.
Let’s learn from each other!

Have you had a good experience with AMP? We want to hear from you!
We would like to highlight successful mentoring matches on our website; if you would like to be featured, please contact Emily Schmied (eschmied@sdsu.edu).
