Bio
Dr. S. Wilton Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Global Health Management and Policy at the School of Public Health, San Diego State University. Dr. Choi’s main research focus is on enhancing access to maternity care for pregnant individuals with substance use disorders, people of color, and immigrant and refugee populations. He is currently investigating how state-level supportive maternity care policies impact access to care for immigrant pregnant individuals, especially under restrictive federal immigration policies. He has published papers on journals such as Public Health, Women’s Health Issues, Health Services Research, Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, and American Journal of Medical Quality. Dr. Choi received his doctoral degree in Health Policy from the George Washington University, and prior to joining SDSU, he was faculty at the Penn State School of Public Affairs.
