Bio
Dr. Hughes is an associate director and epidemiologist in the Center of Behavioral Epidemiology and Community Health, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Public Health. Her areas of expertise includes: 1) Maternal and child health (e.g., early intervention services for children with special needs; implementation of clinical guidelines for asthma and extreme prematurity in children’s hospitals; healthcare utilization and access; periconceptional alcohol use); 2) Immigrant health; and 3) Behavioral risk factors (e.g., alcohol, tobacco, secondhand smoke exposure, diet, and physical activity); 4) Research methodology (e.g., participant recruitment and retention; item response; behavioral Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAI) and 5) Program evaluation.
