Bio

Rajesh Kumar Rai (BA MA MPhil MPH PhD) is an Adjunct Researcher with the Birbhum Population Project at the Society for Health and Demographic Surveillance, an initiative of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, India. He also maintains international appointments as an Adjunct Professor with the Human Nutrition Unit, Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, Thailand, and as a Lown Scholar with the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University. Dr. Rai’s research expertise encompasses public health nutrition, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH), and the burden of disease. He has published extensively on these issues in the Indian and other low- to middle-income country settings, contributing several peer-reviewed articles, opinion pieces, and commentaries.
