Paula Stigler Granados, PhD is an adjunct assistant professor with San Diego State University and assistant professor with the department of Management, Policy and Community Health at the UT Health School of Public Health San Antonio Campus. She received her PhD in Global Public Health from the joint doctoral program in Global Health from SDSU and the University of California San Diego and her masters in Environmental Health Sciences from SDSU. Some of her research interests are in environmental exposure risks for vulnerable populations, geo-spatial analysis of environmental hazards and health outcomes, and community based participatory research. She has worked extensively along the U.S. Mexico border with tribal and indigenous communities to assess environmental health risks, with a special emphasis on water and wastewater concerns. Currently, she is the PI on a CDC funded study to raise awareness among healthcare providers in the U.S. about Chagas Disease. She is working on the development of a screening protocol for Chagas to be used by health care providers in non-endemic regions.
