On February 27th, 2017 GSPH Student Council collaborated with GSPH Alumni Association to host a Career Coffee Chat, an event where current GSPH students would have the opportunity to meet with alumni for an informal discussion of post-grad life and career options.
Linda Salgin, an alumnus of the Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences track spearheaded the idea, believing in the importance of preparing graduate students for what to expect once they step into the work force. Five Alumni from various disciplines donated their time to speak on topics including; Best Practices for Resume/Cover Letters, How to Effectively Use LinkedIn, and How to Apply for County Jobs.
While the weather may have not been in their favor, there was a great turnout of students who were able to get one-on-one mentoring from Alumni regarding how to best tailor their job searches as they prepare for graduation and enter the working world. A big thank you to the GSPH Student Council, GSPH Alumni Association, Alumni, and Students for participating in our first Career Coffee Chat.
We look forward to planning a future event in the fall!
