On Saturday, May 30, faculty, students, and friends of the SDSU Graduate School of Public Health and College of Health and Human Services participated in the Live Well San Diego 5K.
Live Well San Diego is a long-term initiative of the County of San Diego to be healthy, safe and thriving. Although Live Well San Diego began in 2010 as a health strategy, it has evolved into a greater long-term effort to improve the health and wellness of all County residents. According to the Live Well San Diego website, there are three parts to Living Well:
- Building Better Health calls for improving the health of all residents and supporting healthy choices;
- Living Safely calls for ensuring residents are protected from crime and abuse, neighborhoods are safe and communities are resilient to disasters and emergencies; and
- Thriving calls for cultivating opportunities for all people and communities to grow, connect, and enjoy the highest quality of life.
Live Well San Diego has become a model for other city and county health and wellness initiatives across the United States.
