Morgan O’Brien
Outstanding College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) Undergraduate
Morgan O’Brien, SDSU graduating class of 2017, is a proud recipient of the Outstanding Student Award for the College of Health and Human Services (CHSS). She is an extremely strong student who has the distinction of having the highest GPA in the entire CHHS. Morgan is thankful for the support of family, friends, and professors and is looking forward to attending the Physician Assistant program at Western University in the fall.
Fathiya Abdi
Outstanding Public Health Undergraduate
Fathiya Abdi is major in Public Health and minor in communication and expect to graduate May 2017 with a bachelor of science in Public Health, where she is honored as the recipient of the Outstand Undergraduate in Public Health award for her high GPA and dedication to public health outside of the classroom. She is the president of Student for Public Health (S4PH) as well as the co-founder and event coordinator of the Somali Health Initiative (SOMHealth). She has worked with Project Fresh (PFA) at the Center of Behavioral Epidemiology and Community Health and is a research assistant at the Institute of Behavioral and Community Health (IBACH), where she presented data at the Student Research Symposium (SRS). She will be continuing her education at the University of Washington and obtaining a Master of Public Health with an emphasis on health, management, policy. Her ultimate future goal is to increase access to health for disadvantaged, underserved populations.
Alyssa Diacono
Malik Award
Alyssa Diacono is the current senior co-captain on the Women’s Water Polo Team. She is the recipient of the 2017 Malik Award, which demonstrates the achievement for earning a 4.0, as well as being honored with Female Athlete of the Year.
