John Elder, PhD, MPH Distinguished Professor of Public Health, presented the keynote address at the 4th International Conference of Public Health (ICOPH) in Bangkok, Thailand on July 19, 2018. The title of his talk was “Diseases without Borders: Battling Dengue, Childhood Obesity, and other Epidemics”. In his presentation he drew parallels between non-communicable chronic diseases and vector-borne infections, and noted that humans may also serve as ‘vectors’ in both cases and need to be considered as such in community and health care interventions. The ICOPH was attended by several hundred researchers from Asia and around the world.
