Biography
Dr. Jill Waalen is Lecturer for Seminar in Preventive Medicine, PH700G. She serves as Associate Director of the University of California San Diego-San Diego State University General Preventive Medicine Residency Program and is Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine at The Scripps Research Institute and Clinical Biostatistics Consultant and Instructor at the Scripps Translational Research Institute in La Jolla, California. She has published more than 80 articles on studies involving the genetic epidemiology of obesity, osteoporosis, hemochromatosis, anemia and other diseases.
Dr. Waalen is a diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, serving as Regent for the West Region on the ACPM Board of Regents, Director of the national In-Service Examination for Preventive Medicine residents since 2002, and chair of the College’s annual Board Review Course since 2008. She was also served as Deputy Editor of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine in 2011-2013.
