Biography
Dr. Richard A. Shaffer is a Professor of Epidemiology and Coordinator of the Joint Doctoral Program in Epidemiology. His Ph.D. is in Epidemiology with emphasis in the health effects of physical activity. His teaching interests are epidemiologic methodology, assessment of physical activity in populations, and evaluation of community interventions to change health related behaviors. His research interests include the effects of exercise on musculoskeletal injury, sexually transmitted disease prevention, and the development and evaluation of community programs to reduce alcohol misuse.
