Dr. Corrine McDaniels-Davidson is the Director of the San Diego State University Institute for Public Health (SDSU IPH) and serves as the Associate Director of Public Health Practice for the School of Public Health. She holds adjunct faculty and lecturer positions at the SPH and represents SDSU as the co-Lead for Community Outreach and Engagement for Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Academic-Community Liaison for the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, and Evaluation Director for the Indian Health Council’s Native American Research Center on Health. As the Director of the IPH, Dr. McDaniels-Davidson oversees a staff of research scientists, health writers, and public health professionals collaborating on public health research and service projects with community-based and governmental agencies in and around California.
Dr.McDaniels-Davidson earned her Ph.D. in Public Health from the SDSU-UCSD Joint Doctoral Program, her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology Degree from SDSU, and her Bachelor of Science Degree from Ithaca College. She joins the San Diego State University School of Public Health faculty this fall in the division of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science.

Dr. Benjamín Aceves joins San Diego State’s School of Public Health Division of Health Promotion & Behavioral Science as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Aceves received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Political Science and German, a Dual Master’s Degree in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science and Latin American Studies from San Diego State, and a PhD from the University of Arizona in Health Behavior and Health Promotion.
His research focuses on developing interventions that address individual, organizational, and system-level factors that contribute to health disparities. He addresses these factors by partnering with clinics, government, and community organizations. He works with Latina, Latine, Latinx, and Latino communities located throughout the USA- Mexico border region and is particularly interested in conducting mixed-methods research on topics related to diabetes, social care within clinical settings, implementation science, and health equity among diverse populations.
